Position Descriptions

Firm Director

The Director of TrueNorth PR is responsible for overseeing the student-run firm as a whole, this included but is not limited to:

  1. Securing and finalizing a list of clients prior to the start of the upcoming academic semester.
    1. Ensuring that each client has contact information, scope of work documents and expectations finalized before the semester begins.
    2. Updating the firm's workflow, yearly member expectations, and internal communication methods.
    3. At the beginning of the semester, the firm director is responsible for organizing the firm’s job application process and updating job descriptions as needed.
    4. Organizing the Google Drive folder including the Admin Folder and Client Folders

2)   Scheduling and planning bi-monthly full firm meetings this includes:​

3)   Scheduling and planning weekly meetings with the faculty advisors to TrueNorth PR 

4)   Ensuring that TrueNorth PR is in good standing as a Nationally Accredited Firm and updated the National Accreditation documents as needed.

5)   Delegate work and responsibilities as needed and should ask for help when required.

Vice President of Internal Communications

The Vice President of Internal Communications works directly beside the Firm Director to manage the firm’s social presence, workflow among accounts and plan internal workshops for the team. The VP of Internal Communications is detail-oriented, organized, passionate about their team members and readily available for assistance to the Firm Director. 

Duties include: 

  • Manage the social accounts for True North PR and increase awareness of the firm by posting regularly on Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn

  • Plans bi-weekly meetings for the entire firm alongside the Firm Director  by creating the agenda, planning workshops and taking notes  

  • Monitor digital trends in the industry to strike conversation and ideas among members 

  • Promote events and opportunities about True North PR to campus 

  • Organize the all firm headshots 

  • Attend True North PR Meetings 

Creative Director

The Creative Director oversees any design/graphics work for all of the True North PR clients. The Creative Director leads a team of designers and operates the team as he or she sees best fit. The creative director is a member of the true north pr executive team and reports to the firm director. The creative director is not required to be a design major but to be knowledgeable of design programs and software. Portfolio pieces required upon request. 

Duties Include: 

  • Delegating tasks among themselves and the team of designers to accomplish the work for each client under True North PR

  • Direct accounts involving design work such as graphics, logos, flyers, website design 

  • Be available to led a few workshops for all-firm meetings regarding teachable design programs or skills 

  • Approve all design aspects of material before being sent to client 

  • Attend True North PR Meetings

Designer

Designers report directly to the Creative Director and work with Project Managers, Account Executives and Account Associates to create design deliverables for the clients. A designer is not required to be a design major but to be knowledgeable of design programs and software. Portfolio pieces required upon request. 

Duties Include: 

  • Providing unique graphic and design work that best fits the clients needs delegated by the Creative Director 

  • Assist accounts in creating logos, flyers, websites, etc. as the team needs 

  • Be available to lead a few workshops for all-firm meetings regarding teachable design programs or skills 

  • Attend True North PR meetings 

Project Manager 

The Project Manager is a member of the True North PR executive team and is responsible for a single or multiple clients by overseeing the work done by the account team. The Project Manager manages the workflow and project status among his/her account and reports to the Firm Director on the  status of the work. A Project Manager could be any student in management, marketing or the like, who is interested in pursuing a managerial role in the firm.The Project Manager must be organized, strict, “ready to get down to business”, approachable and empathetic towards both the client and the team.

Duties include: 

  • Overseeing the work flow of his/her account(s) and assuring they are on schedule to complete the necessary tasks for the client  

  • Enforcing the consequence policy among his/her team and reporting to the Firm Director if situations arise 

  • Speaking to the client on behalf of the team with status updates and deliverables 

  • Attend True North PR Meetings

Account Executive

An Account Executive works closely with his/her Project Manager, the Firm Director and the client. An Account Executive is responsible for contributing public relations work for the client(s) while also delegating and assigning tasks to their team. The Account Executive differs from a Project Manager by being in on the action for the client. An Account Executive is the team captain and the Project Manager is the coach. An Account Executive must be organized, flexible, able to delegate, responsible, people-friendly and a leader. 

Duties include: 

  • Develop goals and objectives for the client with Firm Director and Project Manager 

  • Complete and contribute to a successful campaign for each assigned client 

  • Keep the team on track, motivate Account Associates with reminders, and make sure each Associate participates in every project

  • Understand that while you may be trying to increase your skills and portfolio, you are responsible for leading a team which comes with delegating, sacrifices and teaching moments 

  • Proof all client work before sending to client 

  • Attend all True North PR meetings 

Account Associate

Account Associates are responsible for maximizing their own experience in the firm, under the direction of their assigned Account Executive. Account Associates are eager to learn, jump at new opportunities, and assist with projects. 

Duties include: 

  • Report to Account Executive for directions and guidance.

  • Actively participate in account activities.

  • Meet all deadlines.

  • Continually assess client needs and find new ways to creatively and strategically prove public relations worth.

  • Update the firm's project management software, Trello, with all completed work.

  • Attend True North PR meetings.
